Ocean Guardian – eSPEAR Box Packaging Design
Ocean Guardian, Australia’s leader in shark deterrent technology, engaged The Sound of Breaking Glass – Creative Studio to create the concept, creative direction, and finished art for the eSPEAR Box.
This project brought together packaging design, illustration, print production, and a custom 3D workflow, resulting in a premium, functional package that reflects the innovation behind the product.
Packaging Specifications
The eSPEAR Box packaging was designed with both aesthetics and durability in mind:
- Material: Corrugated cardboard, printed white
- Dimensions: 600mm x 90mm x 105mm
- Colours: 2 × Pantone PMS
- Finish: Matte varnish
- Feature Detail: Custom “Pulse” graphic in metallic silver foil stamp
- Internal Element: DL box insert with custom operational diagrams
Signature Pulse Graphic
A key highlight of the packaging is the luxury silver foil stamp of the Ocean Guardian “Pulse” graphic — a custom visual asset created by The Sound of Breaking Glass – Creative Studio and used across the brand’s marketing collateral.
Using Cinema 4D with MoGraph tools, I cloned a sphere array with noise shading and a plain effector to create fluid, wave-like pulse patterns. The manipulated scenes were exported via Sketch & Toon to produce clean vector artwork, which was adapted for the foiling process. This pulse design was applied not only to the eSPEAR packaging but also across other Ocean Guardian print and promotional materials, ensuring a strong, consistent brand identity.
Outcome
The finished packaging delivers a premium unboxing experience while reinforcing Ocean Guardian’s position as a leader in marine safety innovation. The design reflects the product’s advanced technology, with the silver foil “Pulse” adding both visual impact and brand recognition.
